Opportunity for negotiations with Singapore

Somebody forwarded an article from Reuters, telling us that according to a report by Merryl Lynch and Capgemini, "At the end of 2005, Singapore had an estimated 55,000 high net worth individuals, holding assets worth $260 billion... A third of these individuals were Indonesians with permanent resident status in Singapore -- 18,000 in all -- with assets worth $87 billion."

Tell us something we don't know. For years many have argued that Singapore is providing safe haven for corrupt Indonesians, but so far requests for investigations into accounts of alleged criminals and for extradition agreements have been refused by Singapore.

On the other hand, Indonesia has something Singapore don't want, smoke and haze that this year is perhaps worse since the 1997 situation.

Perhaps there is room for some negotiation.
