it got me off my butt...

...to update the blog, anyway. 'it' being the new james bond movie, and of course the new james bond. already distinctly positive about daniel craig as the new bond from just watching the movie previews on tv, actually seing the whole movie confirms my instincts.

my all time favorite is still the inimmitable sean connery, but craig comes a very close second. i was worried he'd emmulate one of the previous bonds, but no worries there. it's an original james. and the movie is great, still lots gadgetry, but the stories are more complex and emotional (well, as bond films go anyway). you actually see bond sweat--something i can't recall seeing with brosnan's bond.

but still, i think this movie has lost some of its distinctly bond style, though i can't quite place my finger what. i mean, don't you get the feeling you're watching a Mission Impossible movie? with all the deceptions and double-timings? though perhaps that's how they should've all been, considering producers say they've stayed truthful to the flemming novel this time. i've not read any of flemming's bond stuff, perhaps never will, given my imageries are already spoilt visually by movie versions. actually, craig would also do well as replacement for cruise in the MI series.

anyway, i much recommend casino royale, all 2.5 hours of it. highly entertaining.
